I finally finished my dress, and ugh, not only do I feel the instant gratification of having completed my first piece of clothing from scratch, I just feel such a strong urge to keep making and creating...Ah. When I finished yesterday, I can't help but say that I was proud but also feeling a little bit empty because of the fact that I'm done. Although, I do have some ideas in mind for some next projects.
But I love this feeling.
Knowing the fact that I can create (simple) clothing from scratch to wear just amazes me. Nonetheless, I have not taken pictures of the dress quite yet, but I will....eventually.
I'm starting to sketch. MMMM, it just makes me excited to look into my journal and see what I have the potential to make. fjsfsjldk. It's like when I first started graphic designing layouts and the sort. But anyway, on to my point—I feel as though I need to assert myself when it comes to my 'design aesthetic' as far as clothing goes. It might be cliche, but still.
I named my first dress 'Jessalee'. Based on my first dress and what I imagine to create, I design from a tailored, feminine perspective. Neutral laces and flowy fabrics that compliment the female anatomy—at least mine. LOL. I plan on naming my creations based on other 'girl' based names...I don't know how I choose them, but I love the idea of Southern Bellesque names that could possibly represent the sweetness and simplicity of what I've made while the juxtaposition of tailored styling will definitely give it its modern edge.
But until then,
